Women and Children First

Solo exhibition by Stephanie McLaughlin

Exhibition continues 29 March - 25 May 2012

Opening Times: Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm

Stephanie McLaughlin is a textile artist who comes from a long tradition of artists who explore spirituality through art. In illuminating the universal issues of love and loss, hope and fear, soul and suffering, her art work also explores the ideas of redemption, forgiveness and paths to salvation.

'Women and Children First' uses textile text in the manner of samplers, but also puts words alongside images that include archive photography and classical art. This combination provokes a response in the viewer, asking questions in their juxtaposition. Stephanie’s subversive use of embroidered lettering and images will alternately inspire, move, surprise and amuse you.

Exhibitions coming up:

Sara Brannan

Wednesday 30 May - Friday 20 July
Opening Times: Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm

Sara Brannan is the first artist exhibiting as part of the SOME TIMES development residencies. Sara appropriates and manipulates copyright free downloadable films, treating them as a found object. She then makes these films into short videos by re-editing them to focus on a single issue. This restructuring provides the viewer with the opportunity to comprehend a new reality.

For this exhibition, Sara will make work using the film 'The Brain That Wouldn't Die'.

Further details of the exhibition will be updated shortly.
